What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s largest match-funding campaign, where donations made to participating charities during a one-week period are doubled thanks to generous match-funders. When someone donates through a charity’s Big Give campaign page, their gift is matched pound for pound, instantly doubling the impact at no extra cost to them. It’s a powerful way to make Christmas giving go further, helping charities raise vital funds quickly while supporters see their generosity create twice the difference.
How does it work?
During the Big Give Christmas Challenge, charities secure a pot of “match funding” in advance. Then, during the campaign week, every donation made by the public through the charity’s Big Give campaign page is matched from that pot — doubling the value of the gift. For example, if someone donates £30, the match funders add another £30, turning it into £60 for the charity. The match continues until the pot is used up or the campaign ends. Donations must be made only through the Big Give link for the doubling to apply, making it a simple but powerful way to maximise every supporter’s impact.
Why do we need hedgehogs?
Hedgehogs are indicators of our environment’s health. They act as pest control by eating small invertebrates, benefitting agriculture and horticulture.
