SWCC Conservation Hub Volunteer
Role Description
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run our brand new SWCC Conservation Hub on a regular basis at Shepreth Wildlife Park.
The SWCC Conservation Hub will be a space where people come together to connect, collaborate and take action for nature. Designed as both a community meeting place and an immersive learning environment, the Hub will explore the conservation challenges facing wildlife here in the UK and across the globe, while showcasing the work SWCC has done through conservation projects worldwide. Our Wild Play area will inspire our youngest conservationists through hands-on, interactive activities, encouraging curiosity, creativity and passion for protecting the natural world.
If you’re passionate about nature, animals and wildlife conservation, and love chatting with and inspiring others, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Engaging with visitors and sharing conservation messages
• Guiding children in our interactive Wild Play Area
• Helping keep the Hub welcoming and tidy
Desirable Skills
• A background or qualification in education, teaching, environmental studies or a related field
• Experience working or volunteering in a zoo, museum, visitor attraction or community setting
• Confidence in engaging with the public, including children and families
• An interest in or knowledge of wildlife conservation and environmental issues
• Experience supporting informal learning or leading activities for children
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative when required
• Strong organisational skills and an ability to help maintain a tidy, welcoming space
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a friendly, passionate team, while spending time surrounded by incredible animals and making a difference for nature.
